<p>Yes, the rumors are true, we purchased new treadmills for the club.  All 6 treadmills have been replaced today with Life Fitness 95T Inspire machines, all with television screens.  YAY!!</p>
<p>It will take us a little while, probably 2 weeks or so to get the screens operational and to understand all the new features available on these machines.  Feel free to poke around the menus to figure out what&#8217;s what and what&#8217;s not so much.</p>
<p>Thank you everyone for all your patience with the time it has taken to get this done.  Your loyalty and enthusiam is greatly appreciated.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello everybody, it&#8217;s that annoying in-between time of year again.  Winter isn&#8217;t over and spring has yet to happen.  Our New Year resolutions are losing their momentum and we need a recharge to carry us to summer when we want to look fit, well and happy.</p>
<p>Well, Trainer’s Club can help I think.  We can’t make spring come sooner, but we can help keep your on target by providing encouragement and commitment so that you keep working on your wellness goals.  Part of this is our new mission and motto initiative that we hope will help all of us focus now and for years to come.</p>
<p>After a great deal of discussion and creative input from lots of people, Trainer’s Club has developed a new mission statement and a new motto.  Our mission statement will help everyone understand why we are here and what our aspirations look like.  Our motto as a catch phrase should provide daily reinforcement to keep everybody working to your wellness goals.  We will splash our motto all over the club, you&#8217;ll see some snazy banners right away and later posters and other not so subtle reminders so that you don’t slack off or get lazy!</p>
<p>So without further adieu,</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Trainer’s Club new mission statement:</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>At Trainer&#8217;s Club, our mission is to improve our current and future members&#8217; total wellness by continually providing a world-class fitness facility as well as making available the services of our premier in-house health professionals.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Trainer&#8217;s Club will sustain and strengthen our &#8220;Sense of Community&#8221; so that members regard our wellness center as their &#8220;Third Place,&#8221; a place of friendship, camaraderie, and health. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Don&#8217;t worry, we won&#8217;t have a test so you won&#8217;t have to memorize it.  But if you ever wonder what gets the Trainer&#8217;s Club team up and out of bed in the morning to come to work, this mission statement is it.  We will work hard to achieve our asipirations as specified in this mission statement so that you, our members, get the maximum benefit from your patronage at Trainer&#8217;s Club.</strong></p>

<p>Dr. Judith Allan, our business partner at Oregon Natural Health Clinic (located in Trainer’s Club) is sponsoring this seminar that will bring experts that can explain and answer questions about how to look and feel great during the aging process.</p>

<p><strong>Happy New Year everybody!!!  It is time to make your resolutions stick, we can help.</strong></p>
<p>Things are really hopping at Trainer’s Club.  I figure it’s time for a blog to bring everyone up-to-date with what’s happening around the club.</p>
<p>Coming right up is our Third Thursday Wellness Seminar on February 16 and 5:30.  Everyone is welcome, there is no fee and bring any and all your friends.  These once-a-month seminars provide our members and guests access to our wellness experts on a variety of topics.  This month are topic is:</p>
<p>How can massage Therapy support my workout?</p>
<p>Have you ever wondered about massage and what it is good for? Have you ever felt so sore and tired and wondered if massage might help relieve some of that soreness? Come and meet our Licensed Massage Therapists and learn how their treatments can help in recovery, relieve pain, calm your nerves and relax your mind. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers so come and ask those questions you have wanted to ask but never knew where to go.</p>
<p>Plan on attending, it is guaranteed to be interesting and informative.</p>
<p>On the very next day we are having our Valentine’s Day Dance!  Join our dance instructors, Eric and Jenica, and learn new dances on Friday night, February 17 at 6PM.</p>
<p>We will have wine and appetizers for this heart healthy event.   There is no fee and everyone is welcome, members and any guests.  Save the date and stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the date.</p>
<p>Last thing for today, you may have noticed that we have lots of new and fun apparel in stock.  You’re right of course.  We have increased our inventory of Nike and Lucy items, including the larger sizes that we’ve been unable to get from Lululemon.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello members,</p>
<p>I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year on behalf of Trainer’s Club! I also bid adieu happily to 2011, a year of progress and productivity but also some unexpected challenges. And I wish to bring you up to date with what’s going on at Trainer’s Club.</p>
<p>We have accomplished some important things in 2011. We were able to add several new exercise machines including the popular Jacob’s Ladder and new stair masters. We established our monthly Third Thursday Wellness Seminars, which feature our health professionals here at Trainer’s Club speaking on wellness issues important to all of us.</p>
<p>The leaks downstairs are fixed once and for all, finally! We started lots of new, well-attended group classes like Rock That Body, Step It Up, Bands and Balls, and Booty Camp.</p>
<p>New flat panel TV’s and new treadmills remain on my list of goals. I am totally committed to achieving these goals, but at the moment I must reserve funds for an unexpected situation. I want to explain this situation and what we are doing to get resolution.</p>
<p>As I’m sure you know, our trainers, group instructors and massage therapists are all independent contractors who set their own schedules, determine their own rates and market their services as they see fit. Trainer’s Club simply provides a facility and billing services.</p>
<p>Early in 2011 the State of Oregon conducted an audit to determine if our contractors met the state requirements that apply to their status as independent service providers. Initially, I was not unduly concerned about the audit because Trainer’s Club passed such an audit in 2003 and I haven’t changed our operations or contracts. But for reasons that are not entirely clear, the auditor ruled that our trainers do not qualify as independent contractors.</p>
<p>We have of course appealed the ruling through our legal counsel and once an independent judicial body reviews the audit, we feel confident that we will prevail. Unfortunately, we cannot accurately determine the legal costs that we will incur. Because of this situation, I must set aside the funds that were earmarked for our planned equipment purchases. We hope to resolve this soon, but it’s been almost a year thus far so I am not certain how long it will take.</p>
<p>We have received tremendous support from some of our state and federal representatives, including Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley, State Senator Richard Devlin, and State Representative Chris Garrett. They all have written letters on our behalf to the directors of the state agencies involved in this wrongful ruling.</p>
<p>In the meantime, it’s business as usual. I remain totally committed to reaching all our stated goals and to providing the best fitness club environment to our members for many, many years to come. While this situation is annoying, it is nothing but a speed bump that has only slowed us down a bit.</p>

<p>OK, I’m a little early with the holiday greeting, but I want to get a jump on your holiday calendar.  Sorry to bother you again with this blog, it’s a busy time here at Trainer’s Club.  We have several fun events coming right up and I don’t want you to miss them.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>I told you about the Third Thursday Seminar this week on PAIN as well as the Ballroom Basics class on Friday night.  Well, we have more to come.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Every Thanksgiving morning for the last 8 years Trainer’s Club has hosted a Boot Camp class in support of  Oregon Food Bank.  Not just any boot camp, this one is the one and only:</p>
<p><em>TURKEY STUFFER, HUFFER PUFFER, POWER PILGRIM BOOT CAMP!!!!    </em></p>
<p>Two of our fabulous trainers, <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">David Clapp and Mick Glaze</span></strong>, host this lollapalooza of a circuit training class that is guaranteed to leave you tired, exhilarated and most importantly, HUNGRY!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The club opens Thanksgiving morning at 7:45 and the fun begins at 8AM sharp.  This intense, but fun, class ends at 10AM.  The club locker rooms are not open, you will have to shower at home.  We want our staff to get done with their work and get to their turkey and stuffing wiki wiki.  (that is Hawaiian for pronto)</p>
<p>Everybody is welcome, friends, family, guests, in-laws, whoever is hanging around waiting for food.  Please sign up, there is a limited amount of space.</p>
<p>Speaking of food, this is a Oregon Food Bank event, you must bring food and drop it in one of the handy barrels.  This boot camp is free to all, just bring the food donation of course.  Nobody should be hungry during the holidays.</p>

<p>On to our next holiday affair.  Mark your calendars, hire the babysitter, put the pets into cat and dog boarding and block off a few hours on <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Friday, December 9 7PM – 10PM for Trainers Clubs Annual Holiday Party.</span></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is a must come affair, all your club friends will be here.  We will have music as well as food and beverages for everybody.  (yes, adult beverages!!)  This one will get you in the holiday mood for sure.</p>
<p>You will see notices around the club, but put it on your calendar now!!</p>
